Bonnie Hancock-Moore, BACS, MSW, RSW
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
My professional qualifications include: Masters of Social Work from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Bacholors Degree in Community Studies. I am currently licensed with the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Social Workers (NLASW) as a registered social worker.

MY CAREER STORY
I am originally from the Big Land, but moved to Deer Lake in 2009. I have been a registered social worker since 2002. For most of this time I have worked in the Mental Health and Addictions field. I work evenings at Activelife Physiotherapy and Wellness and will continue there; however, I am aware that in our Province of Newfoundland and Labrador there are many people who are unable to meet with a counsellor in person or are not comfortable in a clinic setting.
PERSON-CENTRED APPROACH
Recovery is Possible!
Many people live everyday of their lives with mental illness or addiction. I believe that recovery is possible and that each person has their own strengths that have got them through difficult times already. It is a privilege to hear peoples unique stories and work with them in their recovery journey. Individuals are empowered by taking steps to change their lives.

COUNSELLING MODALITIES/THEORIES
I draw from many different counselling modalities in my practice. Some of my most used are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Goal Focused Therapy, Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing and Psychodynamic Approach.

ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION
Anxiety and Depression is the most common referral issue that I see in clinic. Research has shown that counselling often gives individuals the tools they need to learn and deal with anxiety and depression. My objective is to give you the tools and techniques to achieve a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle. After several sessions, you will become well-versed at managing your symptoms using evidence based tools such as CBT, Mindfulness and relaxation techniques. Email now to schedule a session.
